Recent Pack Activities
The Cub Scouts of Pack 412 recently participated
in these fun activities.

June 2008 Pack Campout
Pack 412 enjoyed a wonderful early summer campout in
June 2008 at Indian Cave State Park. All Cub
Scouts and their families were invited to a weekend of
fun in the park. The Pack visited the
reconstructed mid-19th century river settlement of St.
Deroin. In the
village the Cub Scouts saw how early settlers made
old-time crafts such as lye soap, broom sticks, and
candlesticks. There was a working blacksmith shop
with a roaring forge.
Cubmaster Wurtele treated the Pack to two delicious
Dutch oven treats on Saturday night. On Sunday
morning the Pack enjoyed a hearty breakfast of home made
Dutch oven donuts, monkey bread and Hungry Man breakfast
casserole. Webelos Den Leader Deardoff showed the
scouts how to make omelets in a bag.
There are photos of the June 2008 camp
out at Indian Cave State Park in the photo gallery

Blue and Gold 2008
The Blue and Gold Banquet is a birthday dinner for
the Cub Scouting program, held during February, the
anniversary month of the Boy Scouts of America, which
was organized in February 1910.
It's also a time to celebrate the advancements and
accomplishments of the Cub Scouts and to share a few
laughs and stories with parents and Cub Scouts.
Our theme this year was "Cowboys" and we had a special
demonstration of horses and gear from Mindy Smith of
Splatter Paint Farms.
I saw a lot of parents take photos this year so we may
have a few more pictures added to the gallery later.
There are photos of this year's Blue and
Gold available for downloading in the
photo gallery
here.

Raingutter Regatta 2007
The Pack held the annual Raingutter Regatta at
the October Pack Meeting. Each boy builds his own
boat with supervision and help from parents or other
family members.
This year the wind for the sails were supplied by small
hand held fans instead of the Cub Scout's breath.
Two sets of photos are available in the photo gallery
here and
here.
Last years photos are
still in the

Blue and Gold
2007
The Blue and Gold Banquet for Feb 2007 had several
exciting guests. JD a great radio personality from KGBI
100.7 FM entertained the Cub Scouts with some great
games.
We also had a visit from a local RC club called the
Omahawks. The Omahawks normally fly their remote control
airplanes across the Standing Bear Lake, but tonight a
few fellows were kind enough to bring some of their
aircraft to snow the Cub Scouts. They even flew several
of their mini helicopters around the inside of the
Church! Pictures of the Feb 2007 Blue and Gold can be
found
here and
here. |
Visit to KGBI 100.7 FM
Some
of the Cub Scouts from Pack 412 visit local radio
station KGBI 100.7 FM. The Cubs got a chance to
talk on air during the evening drive time hour.

can be found in the

Scouts in Shining Armor
The theme for Pack 412's November Pack meeting was
Cubs In Shining Armor. The Cub Scouts learned
about chivalry, the rules of the roundtable, making
their own costumes and coat of arms. The Cubs also held
a jousting tournament. More photos can be found in
the
photo gallery. |
