Wilderness Survival Campout

The Wilderness Survival Campout was very interesting. Although the hike out to the campsite was really difficult I thought it was worth it once we got to the campsite. While we were there I was able to build my own shelter, start fires without matches, learn how to signal with a mirror, treat water, and learn first aid for many different injuries. I thought it was a great campout and I hope everybody else thought so to.

Wilderness Survival Campout

The wilderness survival campout was an interesting one.  The hike from my dad's car was a little hard but I can't complain.  It was really fun learning how to start a fire five different ways.  I personally thought it went great.

Andrew P at the winter Funapalooza
The Funapalooza was the greatest campout I have ever been on. We got to eat junk, play video games, snowboard, and stay up late. One of the most funniest things I did there was play guitar hero. I think it is the greatest game ever. Now I can't wait until next year's Funapalooza. I hope it will be even better, because there will be a lot more scouts.

Mark at Summer Camp

Mark, here.
I wanted to share with you about the FUN campout.
When we got to Zion we got are things and electronics packed in the vehicles we said a prayer and then we left for Camp Eagle. When we got there we put our personal gear in one cabin and our electronics and troop gear in the other cabin. When all of our things were put away we played videogames then went to bed. Later the next day some of us went out exploring for a good place to go sledding. Then we went back to eat lunch. Then later we went out again and we found a really good place to sled. We stayed out until dinner. That night we stayed up half the night playing videogames. Finally when we all went to bed we slept for about five hours. In the morning we packed our things and went back to Zion to be picked up by our parents so we could go home.

Fun Campout!
At the fun campout troops 218 and 412 went to camp eagle. We all brought game stations, video games, TVs ext. The adults cooked all the meals. We had snacks and pop. We went outside and found a huge hill. We went snowboarding. Later that night we watched movies in the dark.

Philip in Leaves OMAHA AKSARBEN KNIGHTS HOCKEY GAME
On February 17, 2007 the scouts drove downtown to the Civic Auditorium to watch the hockey game. We got in free because it was scout night and we wore our scout uniforms. The Knights played the Peoria River men. We had pretty good seats. It went slow until the end of the second period, that’s when most of the action started. There was one fight that broke out both players got sent to the penalty box for two to three minutes. During halftime they had the Chuck a Puck contest where they put a mat with a red circle on it in the middle of the rink and people threw a puck and tried to get it in the circle. Whoever got their puck in the circle got $500.00 and somebody won! Even though the Knights lost 2-3 1 still had plenty of fun because I like watching hockey!

Josh at Scout Hockey Day

Hi, I’m Josh. I’m the Senior Patrol Leader for Troop 218. This summer, I am going to be a staff at Pahuk Pride, a National Youth Leadership Training camp. Here, 96 scouts 1st Class Scouts or above will be taught how to be better leaders. The scouts will learn how a Troop is supposed to work. Other skills taught are: how to use a GPS, cooking, communicating, and problem solving.

As a staff member, I had to go through the program myself, along with being recommended by my patrol guides from last year. I will have to do at least 6 speeches while there. We must be good at speaking, or else we embarrass ourselves. On top of all that, I have to go to staff development training twice before camp and go out early to camp this summer. This may sound like a lot of work, but it will pay off for everyone in Troops 412 and 218 because I will use these skills to prepare you to be leaders and to better lead you myself!

Andrew with snowboard at Funapalooza Andrew here.  I'm going to give you a quick review about what happened over the past 2 months. Well, I guess I’ll start with Funapalooza ( I hope I spelled that right). During Funapalooza, we played video games, watched movies, went sledding, and cracked about 2 dozen glow sticks. That was the only “camping trip” we had in January, but we made it up with our normal Troop meetings. During our meetings, we discussed who our next OA (Order of the Arrow) representative would be. Some of us had our board of review too. We also had Scout Sunday and Scout Shabbat . In both, we learned about someone else’s religion. Our next meeting (on 2/19/07) is going to be specifically about what we’re going to do on our next campout. We’ll decide on what food to bring, and everything else we might possibly do.

I like to visit this fun website that has a lot of games http://www.miniclip.com/games/en/.  My favorite game on this site is Commando.
